Greek Life @ William Paterson - Add a Chapter to your Life!

Greek social organizations at WP contribute to student life on campus. Greek members may be found raising donations for charity, organizing special events for campus entertainment, contributing cultural and educational events, attending leadership programs, and participating in various clubs or organizations.  Being involved in Greek Life offers endless opportunities to gain leadership experience, social and managerial skills, and friendships that will last a lifetime.

Being a member of a fraternity or sorority is about more than just wearing letters. It is about making friendships and connections that will last long beyond your college years. It allows you to experience brotherhood and sisterhood. Members of the Greek community have a strong commitment to leadership, service and scholarship. You can find Greeks on the William Paterson campus serving as orientation leaders, SGA club officers, involved with civic engagement, and graduating with honors. When you join a fraternity or sorority its not just during your time at WP, it’s for life.

Joining a Greek organization has specific requirements and expectations.  Enrolled students eligible to join an organization must have 2.50 minimum GPA (some organizations require a higher GPA) and have completed at least 12 credits towards WP graduation, complete an Anti-Hazing Workshop, and attend sessions for the New Member Education Program.   Members of Greek organizations can participate in the WP LEADS Greek STARS leadership development program to gain skills to serve their community.

The following organizations are recognized by the WP Greek Senate that manages and represents the interests of social and special interest Greek-lettered organizations with selective membership. Each social fraternity / sorority is required to be a nationally recognized organization and belong to one of these Councils to be recognized by Greek Senate.

  • Interfraternity Council (IFC)
  • National Panhellenic Council (NPC)
